BOARD Certification

in Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork

April 08, 2016

On January 1, 2013, the National Certification in Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCTMB) launched a new credential, Board Certification, phasing out the old standard, “National Certification in Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork”.

Achievement of Board Certification is the highest attainable credential level in the profession, and yes… it’s voluntary.

Being BOARD CERTIFED in Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork requires fulfilling additional qualifications (far beyond the phased out National Certification credential), including: more education, hands-on experience and a background check.

As in other professions, Board Certification will be an additional differentiator to help consumers understand those therapists that choose to raise the professional standard.

BOARD Certification

March 01, 2013

About: Board Certification Qualifications

Board Certification Creates a New Standard

On January 1, 2013, the National Certification in Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCTMB) launched a new credential, Board Certification. This new credential requires fulfilling additional qualifications (beyond the old standard of National Certification), including: more education, hands-on experience and a background check.

Therapists achieving BOARD CERTIFICATION will have the proper foundation to better serve their clients and demonstrate an intense commitment to raising the standards of the profession that have remained stagnant for the past 20 years (meaning, the old standard was NATIONAL CERTIFICATION).

Achievement of Board Certification is the highest attainable credential level in the profession.

As in other professions, Board Certification will be an additional differentiator to help consumers understand those therapists that choose to raise the professional standard.  NCBTMB will actively publicize this credential along with those who attain it.
